Cabin Backup Power: Choose the Loads That Matter

Start backup-power planning by deciding what must continue during an outage. A short list of critical loads gives the installer a clearer brief than “keep the whole cabin running.”

Rank the loads by consequence

Separate comfort preferences from functions you rely on. Your list might include selected communications, lighting or water equipment, depending on the cabin and its occupants. Equipment connected to heating may also need electricity even when electricity is not the heating fuel.
